Privacy Policy for VidSilo

Effective date: August 25, 2026

VidSilo is provided by an individual developer based in Lithuania. This Privacy Policy explains how VidSilo handles information when you use the Android application.

What VidSilo does

VidSilo lets you analyze a supported public media link that you choose, save available media to your device, manage local downloads, and use local editing tools such as trim, crop, compression, and audio extraction.

VidSilo does not provide a user account system.

You are responsible for using VidSilo only with content that you own or are permitted to access and save, and for complying with applicable law and the terms of the relevant source service.

Information handled when you use VidSilo

Links and source-platform requests

When you paste or share a supported link and ask VidSilo to analyze or save media, the app sends requests from your device to the relevant source platform and its media or content-delivery infrastructure.

Those requests may disclose ordinary network information to those services, including your IP address, request headers, request timing, and the link being requested. The source platform may return information such as a title, thumbnail, duration, available formats, and media content.

VidSilo does not send the media link to a VidSilo-operated media-analysis server. The source platform and its infrastructure handle their own requests under their own terms and privacy practices.

Remote source-control request

VidSilo can request a signed source-control file from vidsilo-config.pages.dev. This fixed request is used only to control whether a supported source family is enabled.

The request does not include the media link you submitted and does not include a VidSilo-generated user identifier.

The endpoint is hosted through Cloudflare. As part of providing network hosting and security, Cloudflare may process ordinary request metadata such as IP address, request headers, and timing. VidSilo does not use this request for advertising or user profiling and does not operate a separate backend database for these requests.

Provider-side infrastructure metadata, if retained by Cloudflare as part of its service, is handled under Cloudflare's applicable service terms, policies, and configuration.

Information stored on your device

VidSilo stores information locally when needed to provide its features. This can include:

This information remains on your device unless you choose an action that sends or shares it outside the app, such as requesting content from a source platform, using Android Share, or contacting support.

Local media and editing

Media selected for editing is processed on the device. VidSilo can save output through Android MediaStore or a folder that you select through the Android system picker.

VidSilo does not automatically upload your local source media or editor output to a VidSilo server.

Support communications

If you contact VidSilo support, we receive the information that you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, links, or diagnostic information.

Support communications are processed through the email service used for VidSilo support. They are used only to respond to the request, investigate the reported issue, protect the service, or meet applicable legal obligations.

Support messages are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and are deleted when they are no longer needed, subject to any legitimate legal or security requirement.

Do not send passwords, private authentication credentials, or private media that is not necessary for the support request.

Information VidSilo does not use for the current release

The current VidSilo release does not include:

If VidSilo's data practices change in a future release, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those changes are distributed where required.

Android permissions and system features

VidSilo uses Internet access to analyze supported links, save requested media, load related media information, and retrieve source controls.

VidSilo uses a user-initiated foreground service for active downloads so Android can keep the work running with visible progress and controls. On supported Android versions, notification permission may be requested for these download notifications.

Media and file access is handled through Android MediaStore and Android system document or media pickers where applicable.

How information is used

Information handled by VidSilo is used to:

VidSilo does not use this information for advertising or behavioral profiling.

Sharing and external parties

Information may be handled by or sent to:

VidSilo does not sell personal and sensitive user data.

Retention and deletion

Information stored locally by VidSilo can remain on your device until you remove it, clear the app's storage, revoke access where Android provides that option, or uninstall the app.

Deleting a queue or Library record and deleting a saved media file can be separate actions.

Temporary download or editor files are removed when the normal workflow can safely clean them up. Interrupted Android processes or storage providers may delay cleanup, so VidSilo does not promise an absolute deletion time for device-controlled temporary data.

VidSilo does not operate a user-account database.

Requests to access or delete information that you provided directly to VidSilo support can be sent using the privacy/support contact listed at the top of this policy. Information controlled by external source platforms, Cloudflare, Android providers, email providers, or other apps is also subject to those providers' own retention and deletion practices.

Security

VidSilo uses HTTPS for configured network endpoints and does not intentionally send media links or local media to a VidSilo-operated media-processing backend.

The remote source-control file is cryptographically verified by the app.

No security measure can eliminate every risk, particularly where information is processed by external source platforms, hosting providers, Android system services, or other apps selected by the user.

Children and target audience

VidSilo is intended for users aged 16 and older. The Google Play target audience for the current release is 16–17 and 18+.

VidSilo is not designed to create child accounts or knowingly solicit personal information from children under 16.

International processing

External platforms and service providers used by VidSilo may process network or support information in countries other than your own. Their processing is subject to their applicable terms, privacy policies, and legal obligations.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when VidSilo's features, providers, data practices, or legal obligations change.

When the policy is updated, the effective date at the top of the page will be changed. Material changes will be reflected before the corresponding product change is distributed where required.
